Livonia

Maybury State Park was developed originally to give people in the Detroit metropolitan area an opportunity to involve themselves in outdoor recreation activities. The park consists of 950 acres of rolling terrain, open meadow, mature forest, abundant wildflowers and a variety of wildlife. The living farm located within the Park was established in 1975 and is used to demonstrate general farming practices illustrating life on a turn of the century farm. Also available to visitors are a fishing pond, playground equipment, sports fields, picnic tables and grills, shelters and miles of trails designed especially for cycling, hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing.

The Detroit Zoo offers visitors a plethora of wildlife, fauna and activities to be explored throughout the year. Wander the park grounds and visit various animals from giraffes to chimpanzees to the newly born wolverines. Within the park grounds is the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, which is 20 acres of forest with surrounding natural landscape, including nature trails, numerous outdoor and indoor live animal exhibits and an Exploration Lodge. The Belle Isle Nature Zoo will be the hub for many wildlife conservation projects in the future. During the summer, live concerts and festivals are also held on the park grounds. The Detroit Zoo is a must visit for anyone.
